“Les Furber was a 20-year-old Saskatchewan farm boy 41 summers ago when he and two friends went on a vacation to California that changed his life. And that’s a good thing for golfers throughout Canada and the world.
Furber and his buddies ended up in Santa Barbara, working on the construction of a new golf course.
“It was totally by accident,” Furber recalls over a cup of coffee in Canmore, where he has lived for the last 30 years while germinating his well-earned reputation as one of Canada’s, perhaps the world’s, foremost golf course designers. He became intrigued by the construction process and spent the next six years, until 1972, working on golf course construction. By then he was hooked.”
