The right club off the right tee is KEY! Plus here are some other tips and tricks on some specific holes at the course;
Hole 1
Remember, Hole #1 is one of Trickle Creek’s easier ones, don’t overthink it and make it harder than it needs to be! Playing Hole 1 from the Blue Tees may entice you to use your driver, try a four or five iron to avoid bringing the creek into play and hopefully have your ball land about 100 yards from the green. If you play from the Black Tees, try a Hybrid 3 for the same effect as the iron from the Blue Tee. If you are an amateur player, play from the 150 yard marker, perhaps a bit longer and get a great view of the green.
Hole 1 (Shot from the Fairway 100 Yards in)
Yes, the creek is in front of the green but keep in mind you still have about 20 yards to play with, commit yourself to the shot and you should find success (unless you hit a worm burner). Depending on the pin position, hit a low punch or a high dropper with your sand wedge. Luckily, this is one of the easiest starting holes in golf to ease you into your game!
Hole 10
The trick to this hole, similar to picking up a hot guy/gal, is to not be intimidated by looks! Just like at Hole 1, put away the driver for number 10 and get behind the simple hybrid or 5 iron to make it to the 150 or 100 yard marker.
Super Insiders TIP – Don’t let the gully eat up your game! If you have trouble hitting the ball solid on the clubface, you might want to hit from the greens.
Hole 16
Arguable quite a favourite hole on the course albeit a very challenging one (in fact it’s impossible to make a Hole In One here), nevertheless worth a shot! Having the hole positioned slightly up hill gives you a full visual of all the bunkers right in front of you, long hitters, you’ll be able to make it over the bunkers, for the shorter hitters start your ball at the 150 yard marker (depending on which Tee you play from). This hole is where the correct club really comes into play, without the correct club for the size of the green and the elevation, the uphill second shot (to the green) will get you every time.
Hole 18
Similar to Hole 10, this hole can seem intimidating given the water behind the green, however it doesn’t come into play often unless the pin is positioned near the back of the green (which is rare). Approach this one as a shot to the green (chances are you will come up short), and can continue on from there. Because of the downhill position of this green try your pitching wedge if you are less than 130 yards out.
Hole 18 (Shot from the fairway 150 Yards in)
Didn’t quite make it to the green did you? Well that’s okay, now you get a great view of the Clubhouse and the opportunity to give it another good full swing using a club down (if you normally use an 8 iron try a 9) and trust, you’ll feel closer to the green than you are – give it a good hit!
